The short answer: check the job board whenever you pass through town, but only accept requests you can finish from surplus. Jobs are one of the cleanest ways to turn an item you already have into better-than-shipping-box money. The bad version is handing over the last crop needed for a spell, gift or story step and discovering the reward was not worth the detour.
Source status: The requests below are community-documented from the launch build. They are examples of the available board pool, not a promise that every player sees every request at once. A listed deadline is in-game days.
How the job board pays
Jobs are resident requests rather than a separate career system. Read the objective, check the time limit, then decide whether the reward beats keeping the item. Three rules make the board useful instead of distracting:
- Cash is not the only reward. Ridge’s Cat Coffin Bed request pays with the furniture item; Mina’s Cooking Station request is marked as an event rather than a cash job.
- Do not buy your way into a thin reward. A 135-coin job is not attractive if it makes you buy or regrow a rare input. It is excellent when the item is already gathering dust in storage.
- Protect pipeline items. White Grapes, Blood Grape Juice, Wolfsbane, Copper Bars and Golden Eggs all have other uses. Check your active quests, gifts and machines first.

The quest journal is worth checking before you hand over a crop or processed item. Board requests and story quests are separate, but they can compete for the same inventory.
The jobs worth noticing first
The Saga request has the largest reported cash reward, but it eats four Wolfsbane. Treat it as a sale only after your magic and gift needs are covered. Viktor’s Blood Grape Juice job is similarly good money, but it requires six processed drinks and therefore competes with food, gifts and Keg time.
The practical early picks are usually the jobs built from accidental inventory: Death’s Trash Bottle, a spare Orbis for Noel, or an already-made White Wine for Orlock. They turn a found or surplus item into a meaningful payout without rewriting the farm plan.
Ridge’s Cat Coffin Bed is the odd one out. It is not cash, but free furniture can save resources when you were going to craft or buy the item anyway. Mina’s Cooking Station request is a reminder to read the reward field: some board entries are events, not transactions.
A quick board routine
- Check the deadline before accepting.
- Compare the requested item with your active quests and loved gifts.
- Take immediate-turn-in requests first; they are effectively a premium sale.
- Route crop and machine requests around the next harvest, not around wishful thinking.
- Track progress toward the Albertus’ Helper achievement, which requires 25 completed jobs.
Before accepting a slow job
An open slot is not a reason to accept a request. First count what is already in storage, then work backward from the deadline: can the crop be harvested in time, does the machine input exist, and will the hand-in consume something a current quest needs? A request that asks for a processed item has a hidden cost in machine time, even when the ingredients look cheap. The same logic applies to rare magical crops. If finishing the job means cancelling a gift plan or delaying a useful spell, pass and wait for a request that turns real surplus into a reward. The board is a bonus market, not an emergency loan.
Jobs should sit beside, not replace, your regular money loop. Keep processing surplus in the Keg and other Farm Helpers, then let the board pay extra for the things residents happen to want. For the wider sell-versus-keep decision, see the money guide.
