Being a vampire comes with perks, and shapeshifting is one of the most fun. It’s part convenience, part pure mood — and on the launch build there are two confirmed forms, each with a real practical use.
The Hell Kitten form — your first transformation
The first shape you unlock is a Hell Kitten form, and it’s not just for show: in this form you till soil for less energy and move faster, so it’s a genuine farming time-saver. Slipping into the kitten to prep a field, then back out to plant, is one of those small efficiencies that adds up over a long night.
Quick clarification, because the names overlap: this Hell Kitten form (something you turn into) is different from the three-eyed Hellkitten companion pet you name in the character creator and keep around the cottage. Same adorable species, two different roles.
Bat form — fast travel
The other confirmed transformation is the classic: turn into a bat to zip around town after dark. In a cozy sim where a lot of your night is spent travelling between the farm, shops and friends’ homes, a faster way to get around is genuinely useful — it cuts the nightly commute and looks great doing it. It pairs with the Witches’ Circle teleport (see the spells list and map & fast travel guides): bat form for short hops, the Circle for crossing the whole map.
Why fast travel matters at night
It’s easy to underrate movement in a relaxing game, but it shapes how much you actually get done. Moonlight Peaks runs on a nocturnal clock: you wake at dusk and the night is your whole working day. Every minute spent walking from the farm to the shops, to a friend’s door, to the pier is a minute not spent farming, foraging or building relationships. Bat form is the game’s answer to that friction — the same role a horse, warp totem or minecart plays in other farm sims, reskinned to fit the vampire fantasy.
Practically, that means it pays to use it on your longest recurring routes — the trips you make every single night — rather than thinking of it as a novelty. The less time you lose to travel, the more of the night is yours.
More forms — and NPCs who transform
You’re not the only one who shapeshifts. Some residents transform too — preview players describe spotting a wolf padding around and realising it was Saga transformed, or a bat flitting past that turned out to be another resident. The town’s werewolves are the obvious example, but it’s a townwide touch that makes everyone feel as supernatural as you are.
As for your own forms: the Hell Kitten and bat are the two clearly confirmed so far, but one hands-on preview player noted it “seems like there will be multiple transformations to unlock,” so don’t be surprised if more forms open up deeper into the game. We’ll document any additional confirmed forms here with a source rather than guess at what they are.
Where it fits
Shapeshifting pairs naturally with the rest of your toolkit. Combine it with the farm-helper spells in our witchcraft guide to keep your nights efficient, and lean on it during foraging runs around the pier and forest.
